Ahahaha, I didn't even realize people would think the fan was a prop! They've never been to D.C. in the summer, I guess...

Mmm, I'm pretty sure she means either Hannibal Lecter or Uncle Fester (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Fester). I wager she meant Uncle Fester, though, since I do rather resemble him...! (Particularly the Christopher Lloyd version from the movies! It's the deeply set eyes, I think.)

Of course, the problem is that telling a goth girl she looks like a member of the Addams Family is just about the best compliment one can dole out! This has completely made my night. XD

I'd mention something about shopping for black broomstick skirts at TJ Maxx being a HARDCORE goth sport, but I fear it'd be rather pointless... I'm pretty sure these sorts of lolitas will never actually understand that goths tend to care a great deal more about community than name brands. (Or, from that one NY Times article a while back, goth is all about somewhat tattered elegance -- it's all black, so it's nice, so long as one squints a bit. So true!)

I will say, I have no idea my skirt was hanging so oddly most of the day. I think I'm going to play with the lining a bit and sew down the lace more. AND THEN EAT BABIES.
