Domestic Demigoddess
Today is Cory's and my 4th anniversary. Already?!
I guess we need to start planning our party for next year; always said we'd have a big party on the 5th anniversary!
I'm planning a big dinner. I've finally, in the last few months, started to cultivate enjoyment of grocery planning/shopping/cooking/menus. You know, while Cory and I could easily embrace the lifestyle of the Double Income, No Kids urbanites -- who go out to dinner pretty much every night -- easily, trust me, we love sushi, bubble tea, and all kinds of ridiculous foodstuffs -- the fact of the matter is that since I don't/can't work enough to afford that kind of spending (although I love substitute teaching, actually). And reluctantly or not, the various fun-filled diseases mean that I get to mostly be... a homemaker.
But it's actually not bad; for one, I'm intent on being a really FUNCTIONAL, ORGANIZED house-person. Mini Martha. Gothic Martha. Whatever. For two, I was raised a homeschooler with homeschooly projects, so I actually know a disturbing amount of homeschool/homestead information. I know allllllll about goats, for example.
I just wish there WERE more alternative homemaker websites -- I mean, sure, everyone knits, but that seems to be a very specific hobby. It has little to do with debates about menu planning or the best way to organize a pantry or whatever.
Obviously, there are a ton of blogs out there, but they all have a very... extreme Christian or LDS bent. Which still contain useful information! And that's awesome! But, you know... also tend to be very Mommy-focused. And I'm, you know, not. (Again! I know an EXHAUSTIVE amount about homeschool and cloth diapering, and did both with my sibs, but looking at pictures of cute kids in historical period clothing and reading about the joys of motherhood just sometimes makes me sad. I NEED PICTURES OF CHIHUAHUAS IN PERIOD CLOTHING OKAY?)
Anyone have any links for me?
Maybe I'll make a Gothic Martha blog. :P
Speaking of a crafty blog that DOES have the quirky bent -- I love Threadbangers, but man, I wish it wasn't a video-based program, and just a regular blog-style blog. I must say, I'm a bit sad everyone has high-speed internet now, because I really don't like vlogging at all -- which is all a matter of Styles of Learning, but I'm a reader! I can read an entire article much quicker than I can sit there and watch someone ramble on through their topic. (Again, my preferred style of learning is to read things.) It's much harder for me to glean useful content from videos, because I will almost NEVER click one. Hum.

If you were to do a Gothic Homemaker blog - I'd so totally read it! And along with everyone else, I very rarely click on videos either. I guess I'm old-fashioned (or old-school) -- I like my stuff a little more static.
[On the side, my husband actually asked me to see the front page of the L.A. Times re: Michael Jackson - he was curious as to what made the print version - yes, I get a daily paper delivered - he said the headline and pictures on the Times' website was constantly changing)
