Don't put crap on my cellphone, please

Okay, I must confess: I love modern design. The baroque-modern fusion makes my heart flutter because it's monochrome, but actual baroque is too much for me. I like clean lines, polished surfaces, and limited color palettes. Not even mid-century; I love modern modern.

So I pretty much abhor deco.
twotone: A toy figure in a penguin costume is dismayed. It stands next to a mug with a penguin illustration and a broken handle. (Default)

I find myself drawn to quirky cell phone (and iPod) cases, but cell phone deco is a little too much for me.

Ugh, I don't know how I would get such things in and out of my pocket without doing injury to myself or the phone. Plus so many of them look like someone took the contents of a church craft fair and hotglued them to a phone. *shudder*

Sigh...there goes a bit more of my pop culture innocence. I clicked the link because I thought, surely 'abhor' is a bit strong objection to art deco, even if you don't like it.

Oh.

That's not art deco.

That's just...

Ick.

I think deco'd items look neat for a photoshoot but not for real life applications.

For serious?

My old Razr was blinged out with purple gems, but they didn't get in the way of, ya know, holding the phone, which some of these seem like they would.

I'm content with my EnV's My Little Pony cover for now.
