Last night I put birdseed near my bedroom windows, hoping I'd be woken up by the birds coming to get it.
Instead, I was woken up by Cory shouting at me because there was a blue jay in the shower with him..
See, the blue jays figured out how to steal the cat's food (which we keep on the porch outdoors so the dogs don't get it). And despite all the lovely seeds I scattered, they still prefer the catfood. So Orange Cat chased one of them into the house.
Whee!
We caught it -- he was fine and angry and trying to keep hold of his catfood -- and I waited a bit for him to dry out and then put him outside; he flew off for a few seconds and then returned to raid the seeds. I sort of wish I had taken a picture, but I couldn't really do that and hold him. (And Cory was in the shower!)
Blue jays really are pretty birds. More corvids! The strong, aggressive bird that steals my heart! My morality prevented me from just keeping him domestically, since he was completely uninjured, but I admit, I was sorely tempted.
