Some time ago, [livejournal.com profile] mythosidhe mentioned Zhena's Gypsy Tea, and upon finding it at Wegman's and Whole Foods and other expensive grocery stores where I shop for gluten-free goods, I tried it and was hooked.

I was going to effuse over it extensively, but dang it! They changed their packaging! Sigh. The old tins were way more cute. I might see if I can pick up a few more varieties at Wegman's when I go visit Viv, because... wah. The old ones were way cuter.

Like so. Which I would totally just order from Amazon, but I seriously don't need six of them.

Oh man! I loved the cheery hippie vibe of the old tins. The new ones look like they're trying to be Tazo or Stash or Republic of Tea or something. Not cool.

They seem to be! So boring and... greyed out. Nyeh.

Which makes me sad, because I FREAKING LOVE THE TEA. Even the red teas (which I'm normally kind of eh on some blends) I loveeeeeee. Thus, I am tracking down the old tins. Like an insane person.

(It's funny, Cory and I once again have almost exact opposite tastes in tea -- he likes reds and greens the best, and heavy fruit flavors, whereas I love black and white tea and florals. Thus, we have a wide selection!)

They did what? That sucks. I have most of the older tins for the flavors I like (I can always refill the old tins with new bags, yes?), but I still need the purple one for Ambrosia White Plum! I'll have to stop into the creepy hippie health food store and see if they have any of the old ones left. That's the only place I know around here that sells them, but I hate going in there because everyone is so skinny and...vegetarian-looking o_O On the other hand, it gives me a good excuse to take a walk this afternoon!

There were many of the Ambrosia White Plum at the Wegman's I go to, so let me know if you want me to pick one up! Honestly, I'll probably just get an extra to make sure you do, and drink it if you don't need it. (I tried that one yesterday, actually. They're alllll soooooo gooooooooooooood.)

Heh, that's why I like Wegman's -- it's health food store stuff without... health food store atmosphere. There were THREE in my college town, and one of the little indie ones really made me uncomfortable shopping there; the shopgirls all had hollow, vacant eyes like cultists and laughed at inappropriate times. *shivers* Thanks, I'll stick to my shiny perky corporately green store in this instance.

Zhena's encourages refilling the tins; they sell bulk bags on the website! That's what I'm figuring I'll do.

Oh, if you read this and do go, would you look for Gypsy King Chai for me? It's in a blue tin -- one of the few I haven't been able to find. (Also Gracious Green and Grand Green, but those are a bit older, I think.)

I didn't go yet (it's been raining like a bitch the past couple of days! My celling was leaking in three places last night >__<), but when I do go I'll keep an eye out for you!
